Earlier this week, a report came out about a postgame confrontation between Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz following the Commanders’ 36-30 win in Week 16.
A video has now emerged showing Ertz and Sirianni embracing each other with a handshake, but they would soon have to be separated by Eagles security officer Dom “Big Dom” DiSandro. Ertz went to initially shake Sirianni’s hand but, upon realizing the coach was still pissed about the outcome of the game, he opted for a high five instead.
Sirianni apparently took exception to Ertz’s gesture, which led to him saying something to him as the tight end’s back was turned.
Ertz heard it and immediately came back to confront Nick Sirianni, which inserted chief security officer Dom DiSandro into the situation as he separated the two.
The video was shared by John Doran of WUSA9 News in Washington, DC.
Sirianni called Ertz and apologized for the incident and on Thursday, Ertz explained the situation, saying it’s being blown out of proportion.
Sirianni and the Eagles will have the opportunity to clinch the NFC East on Sunday when they host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET while Ertz and the Commanders can clinch a playoff spot on Sunday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons.
