A social media detective has come under fire for criticizing Beyoncé’s Christmas Day halftime performance at the Ravens-Texans game.
There was plenty to critique after the Houston native serenaded the NRG Stadium crowd during an otherwise underwhelming fixture that ended in a 31-2 victory for Baltimore.
The artist’s outfit was a source of frustration for many viewers, given that they had kids watching. Others were not happy with the fact that she dropped a gun gesture during the performance, considering the NFL’s view on such moves.
The league does not tolerate such as part of player celebrations, and such infringements typically attract penalties.
One X user would also point out that the opening song featured several black women wearing blonde wigs, with none of them white.
“Beyoncé’s opening performance featured a bunch of black chicks wearing blonde wigs and not a single White person,” the caption to the tweet below reads.
Social Media Defended Beyoncé Over This One
Many fans didn’t feel this one was justified.
“As much I dislike her recently, I have to point this out. That person looks white to me. It could be the lighting but I do not think it is,” someone wrote in the comments, zoning in on a caucasian woman right on top of Beyoncé.
Several other people hit out in the comments.
“What’s the issue? U wanted a spot? (u don’t seem country AT ALL why ur knickers so knotted over this?) YOU want someone telling YOU who u can have onstage? (bc pretty sure they won’t be blacks 😂),”
“This woman looks fairly Caucasian to me,”
“I mean her band her choice I guess. Doesnt bother me and doesnt make it less of a performance,”
The artist received plenty of praise amid the criticism. Of course, the outing was worth it, as she is understood to have made an unbelievable sum for a 15-minute performance.
It was also quite special in that her daughter, Blue Ivy, was part of her dance crew and got to showcase her moves to an audience of millions.
