Patrick and Brittany Mahomes are expecting their third child, and the date of birth is right around the corner. The Kansas City Chiefs’ flight home from Denver was delayed due to inclement weather after Sunday’s Week 18 loss to the Broncos. The team plane was unable to take until Monday afternoon, almost 24 hours after Sunday’s kickoff. Mahomes is happy to be home with his wife, who is expecting to deliver their third child on either Sunday or Monday. Fortunately for Mahomes, the Chiefs locked up the No. 1 seed in the AFC – meaning they get a first-round bye this coming weekend. “No one happier to get back to KC than Patrick Mahomes. He told me his wife Brittany is due to give birth to their 3rd child on Sunday. If she doesn’t give birth by then she will be induced Monday. There was def extra motivation for Patrick to get that bye week!” NFL insider Tracy Wolfson reported on X.

Mahomes was fully aware of Brittany’s possible bye-week due date throughout the 2024 NFL regular season. “Brittany says I’ve been stressing her out too much this season,” Mahomes said during an interview before the Chiefs’ Christmas Day win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. “So, I gotta try to not put so much stress on her through these football games and get the bye. “Hopefully, God works the right way and maybe we can have the baby on the bye week somewhere and then everything will work out perfectly.” The Chiefs will face off against the winner of a wild card matchup between the No. 5 seed Los Angeles Chargers and No. 4 seed Houston Texans. That divisional round matchup will kickoff on either Jan. 18 or 19.
