Football fans were saying the same thing about Denver Broncos kicker Wil Lutz and his unfortunate “doink” at the end of the first half in Sunday’s playoff game against the Buffalo Bills.

With five seconds remaining in the first half, the Broncos sent out Wil Lutz for a 50-yard attempt to tie the game up. The usually-reliable Lutz had the distance but hit the right goal post, and the kick was no good:

And social media had all sorts of priceless reactions to the booming sound of Lutz’s doink:

“sounded like a gong,” wrote one fan.

“we will never get sick of the noise,” another said.

“Like music to our ears,” wrote the @DIRECTV X account.

“Shoutout the upright mic, all time loud doink,” quipped another.

“the script writers put in special sound effects too,” said a fan.

“Best sound in football,” wrote another.

The miss proved costly for Wil Lutz and the Broncos, as the Bills tacked on 11 third-quarter points to break the game wide open. Obviously, there’s no telling how different the game could have been if it was tied heading into halftime.

Wil Lutz Still Had Excellent 2024 Season In Denver

Lutz’s brutal miss against the Bills doesn’t take away what was otherwise a tremendous outing in 2024. The 30-year-old kicker made 91.2 percent of his kicks, well above his career 85.9 mark.

He made every single extra point and was a perfect 11-11 on field goals from 40 to 49 yards, and 5-of-7 from 50-plus.
