The hiker who posted videos of himself and his friends running away from the Palisades fire while it was just getting started has suspiciously deleted his account on X.

Beni Oren, a 24-year-old running the titular account, which was being advertised as a prankster page, went viral after posting clips from the hills in which it appeared his group had stumbled across the fire while it was still in its nascent stage.

He claims to have nearly gotten trapped and had to run to safety, adding footage to back it up.

Beni and his friends are now being treated as suspects in the court of public opinion, with many people calling for their arrest as they’re accused of starting the fire.

Even actor Rob Schneider urged social media to identify them.

While plenty of social media users have defended Oren and his pals, he has since deleted his account, drawing even more suspicion.

Of course, this could be due to all the attention he has been getting since posting the footage, as it’s likely that he’s received plenty of messages.

Palisades Fire Remains Difficult To Contain

Meanwhile, the fire continues to burn through Los Angeles and, per authorities, was only 11 percent contained on Sunday evening.

It is also understood to have killed 24 people, while the death toll is expected to rise, with cadaver dogs still searching for bodies.

As of Sunday, the Palisades fire had reportedly burned through over 23,000 acres, destroying over 5,300 structures and leaving another 12,000 under threat.
