Texans’ Will Anderson Jr. After Loss vs Chiefs: “We Know It Was Going To Be Us vs Refs”

The Houston Texans season ended on Saturday following a 23-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round but it wasn’t without any controversy.

During the game, Will Anderson Jr. was called for a controversial roughing the passer penalty that extended a drive for Kansas City that ended with the Chiefs scoring a touchdown. After the game, Anderson Jr. didn’t hold back his criticism about the referees, saying:

“We knew it was gonna be us against the refs going into this game,” he explained during a postgame media scrum. “I just assumed, man, we gotta go out there and do much better. In some instances we didn’t do that. In some instances, we did.”

It was the second straight season for the Texans having their season end in the Divisional Round. Despite winning-back-to-back division titles, the Texans are still looking for their first divisional round win in franchise history.
