People are feeling it for Dave Portnoy and Barstool Sports following his heartbreaking announcement regarding the death of one of his employees.
Portnoy, the owner of the popular brand, took to social media on Thursday to announce that 28-year-old Iga Obrycka suddenly passed away.
Obrycka was the general manager of Barstool Nashville, and Portnoy claims he would have hired her for any position she wanted within the company because she was “smart and driven.”
“More sad news in Barstool Family. We suddenly lost Iga Obrycka this week,” the Barstool Sports president wrote. “Iga basically ran our Bar group for us. If you ever went to Barstool Nashville you probably saw her there. I would have hired her for any position she wanted at our company because she was that smart and driven. Just incredibly sad news and another cruel reminder not to take a minute for granted. RIP Iga.”

The tweet prompted several comments from users sharing condolences with Dave and the Barstool family.
“I’m sorry to hear this Dave 😔 RIP Iga 🙏,” a user wrote.

“Sorry to Barstool family. What a tragedy this event is. Too many bright souls perished,” said a third.
According to Iga Obrycka’s obituary, the 28-year-old was skilled in marketing, management, and entertainment. She was best known for her role as the GM of Barstool Nashville, where she focused on branding, event management, and public relations.
“Obrycka’s passion for her work and her connection to the Nashville community made her a well-respected figure,” it reads.
The piece also credits Dave Portnoy’s employee with creating a space for Barstool Sports fans in Nashville and helping the brand’s growth in the city.
