There are many who consider Travis Kelce to be the greatest tight end of all time due to his immense success throughout his 12 year career.
It’s no secret that he is nearing the end of his time on the field, even teasing retirement a few times throughout the year. So, when speaking with reporters on Wednesday, he reflected on the beginning of his career to where he is now.
And that specifically revolved around the GOAT tight end talk.
“I used to really, really care about that. I used to want to be known as the greatest tight end ever. I think it’s more about sharing these moments with my teammates,” Kelce explained. “I’ve gotten away from known as that. I think I just want to be known as one of the best teammates these guys have ever had.”
That truly shows growth and also demonstrates how important he is to this Chiefs roster.
Even at the start of the season, Kelce wasn’t having the statistical production he has had in past years. And because of that, he received a lot of criticism. But, whenever his teammates spoke about him, it was clear that nothing had changed in their eyes.
He was still giving it his all each and every day of practice, while also being a leader and helping support his teammates.
Kelce is a huge reason why the Chiefs have had so much success since he joined Kansas City. He’s the ideal teammate in every way, and it shows.
