There appears to be at least one rotten egg shelling out some chaos at a farm in Pennsylvania.

What we know:

About 100,000 organic eggs were reportedly stolen from Pete and Gerry’s Organics in Greencastle this past weekend.

They were taken from the back of a distribution trailer during a nighttime heist.

The stolen eggs were worth approximately $40,000.

What we don’t know:

Authorities have yet to release any information about possible suspects, or how the heist was pulled off.

The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating.

Dig deeper:

The heist comes as egg prices soar across the country, with some retailers experiencing an egg shortage.

Waffle House announced a 50 cent per egg surcharge at its restaurants this week in response to the shortage.
