Delta Airlines has reportedly made an offer to every passenger who was on the flight that flipped on the runway at Toronto Pearson Airport this week.
Flight 4819, which had flown in from Minneapolis on Monday afternoon, crashed upon landing and flipped on its head, spitting a massive fireball while skidding across the icy tarmac. Fortunately, no one was killed, though several passengers were injured.
Delta has since offered $30,000 to everyone who was on board, adding that the money doesn’t come with any strings, which suggests they will leave themselves open to litigation.
The airline confirmed as much to ABC.
“Delta is offering $30,000 to each passenger onboard the plane that flipped on the runway in Toronto, the airline confirmed to ABC. Delta Care Team representatives are telling customers the gesture has no strings attached and does not affect rights,” the outlet noted.
Folks on social media don’t believe the figure is enough, while some think it’s fishy.
“Delta doesn’t do anything out of the goodness of their hearts. This is suspicious. Anyone with injuries should consult a lawyer before taking this offer. There are always strings attached,” someone claimed.
“Survive a plane crash, make $30k,” a comment read.
“wouldn’t even answer the phone until they started adding zeros,” someone else declared.
Delta Airlines Flew In On A “Clear Day”

Toronto Pearson Airport President and CEO Deborah Flint has admitted that conditions at the landing field were difficult to manage due to heavy snowfall.
She pointed out that, between Thursday and Sunday, an unusual amount of snow fell over the airport, causing many flight delays and cancellations.
“Monday was a clear day, though, and it was an operational recovery day for Toronto Pearson,” she said.
According to reports, airport staff had worked overnight to get rid of snow.
It’s also understood that the Delta Airlines pilots were informed of high winds and a slight bump while preparing to land. Canadian authorities are still investigating the incident.
