Over the years, we have seen many fans lose their minds when watching live sports, but this might be the first time we’ve seen such jubilation from a volleyball match that it caused significant backlash.
Turkish TV channel TRT Spor was forced to issue an apology last month after they accidentally broadcasted an incident in which a woman inadvertently exposed her boob during the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League match between Turkey and the United States.
To make matters worse, the station even played the female fan jumping up and down in slow motion as her boob escaped her top as she happily waved her country’s flag.

“Last night, an unwanted image appeared on the screens during the live broadcast of our National Women’s Volleyball Team’s 8th match against the host USA in the FIVB Nations League [VNL]. This disturbing situation has been associated with our Institution in different media and with a wrong perception,” read the translated message in Turkish.
“We would like the public to know that the shooting and direction of the match was carried out by the host US broadcaster. TRT Spor and all broadcasting channels broadcasting the match reflected the instant images transmitted by the US broadcaster on the screen without the possibility of intervention.”
“Therefore, this image, which is completely contrary to our publication policy, originates from the US broadcaster, and the discomfort felt by this situation has been conveyed to the other party. In its capacity and responsibility as Turkey’s public broadcaster, TRT will continue to be a strong supporter of Turkish sports,” they continued.
“On this occasion, we wish the “Sultans of the Net” great success in the matches against Thailand, the Dominican Republic, China, and Brazil. The match will be played in Hong Kong between 11-16 June and will be broadcast live on TRT. We announce it to the public with respect.”
The station made it clear that preventive measures would be taken in future broadcasts to prevent incidents like this from occurring again.
As for the game, the U.S. Women’s National Team had many chances to come out victorious, but it would ultimately suffer a five-set loss (21-25, 25-20, 25-21, 12-25, 15-12) to the world’s top-ranked team Türkiye in a Volleyball Nations League preliminary match that was played at College Park Center.
Since then, Turkey has gone on to win a four-set match against the Dominican Republic on June 13th but lost to Brazil in three sets on June 16th.
Turkey Women’s National Volleyball Team Is Most Successful Team In The Country
The fan base for the Turkey women’s national volleyball team can get quite rowdy for their squad, as seen with the young woman accidentally exposing her boob during a match.
It’s not hard to see why they are excited about the team as they are the country’s most successful national sports team and have been given the nickname “Filenin Sultanları,” which translates to ‘Sultans of the Net,’ according to Wikipedia.
The team is reportedly ranked third in the FIVB World Rankings as of June 2024.
