Fans noticed the same thing about Steve Smith Sr. at the NFL Scouting Combine over the weekend: He was not there.
Given his expertise and his status as one of the best wide receivers in NFL history, Smith usually analyzes wideout prospects at the Combine. However, he was a noticeable absentee this time around.
Smith is in the middle of a cheating scandal after getting caught in an affair with a member of the Baltimore Ravens marching band. Smith’s secret relationship was blown open after the woman in question’s husband found text messages that were supposedly exchanged between them and posted them online.
The furious spouse confronted the former Pro Bowler over a phone call, letting him know he was busted. He recorded himself making the call, and Smith was heard on the other end saying, “I’m sorry” before going mum.
Fans Had Something To Say About Steve Smith Sr.’s Absence At The Combine
Given that he typically features at the Combine, there were some jokes regarding his absence, with some folks grouping him with FS!’s Joy Taylor, who has reportedly been “sidelined” by the network for an unknown “infraction.”
“I was looking forward to seeing Steve Smith Sr. Doing combine coverage today on NFL network. He must have been “sidelined” just like Joy Taylor..” someone shared.
“I was just wondering why steve smith not at the combine talking bout the WRs & i just remembered
,” another user joked.
“Him and Joy in timeout together,” someone suggested in response to a tweet reading, “NFL network usually has Steve smith sr breaking down the WRs at the combine.”
The NFL Network has not made any announcements regarding the former star wideout, but they clearly reckon it’s too soon to have him back on TV.
