White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was backing down to a reporter who read a quote from French member of the European Parliament Raphaël Glucksmann.

Raphaël Glucksmann said he “does not think that the U.S. represents the values of the Statue of Liberty anymore.”

The White House has no plans to return the Statue of Liberty to France, and the 27-year-old made sure they knew that with her response.

“Absolutely not,” she said.

“My advice to that unnamed low-level French politician would be to remind them that it’s only because of the United States of America that the French are not speaking German right now.”

Ouch.

Karoline Leavitt did not go into further detail, but it is clear she was referencing America and France working as allies in World War II against Nazi Germany.

“They should be grateful,” Leavitt said of France.

Glucksmann made his initial comments during a convention during a Place Publique movement Sunday.

“Give us back the Statue of Liberty,” he said.

“We’re going to say to the Americans who have chosen to side with the tyrants, to the Americans who fired researchers for demanding scientific freedom: ‘Give us back the Statue of Liberty.’”

France gifted the statue to the USA on July 4, 1884.

Leavitt has been making the news ever since she was chosen as Donald Trump’s White House press secretary to succeed Karine Jean-Pierre.

Leavitt has been ideal for the position in an administration that thrives on rapid-fire comebacks.

Leavitt ran for election to the US House to represent New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District in 2022, losing in the general election.

That loss only ignited her as she has gone from college grad to White House press secretary.
