Ben Roethlisberger previously confirmed that he never considered coming out of retirement after playing 18 years for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Unlike most former players, he has not decided to let himself go.
A recent picture of him had fans buzzing with nostalgia.
This week, a picture surfaced of Roethlisberger looking leaner and meaner than he has ever been.
MLFootball wrote on X, “Legendary Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger appears to have lost significant weight since retiring a couple of years ago. Big Ben appears to be in the best shape of his life.”
Roethlisberger was captured at Irish Creek, a golf club in Kannapolis, North Carolina, for a charity tournament on Monday.
The former Steelers quarterback was snapped arriving at the course for the Alex Highsmith Family Foundation fundraising event.
The 43-year-old Roethlisberger hasn’t played since 2021 as he awaits his candidacy into the Hall of Fame.
Roethlisberger played 18 seasons in the NFL; of them, the Steelers never had a losing season. Ben is one of 12 quarterbacks with at least two Super Bowl victories.
In terms of passing yards, Roethlisberger accumulated 64,088 in his career, which puts him fifth all-time.
Ben Roethlisberger On Coming Out of Retirement Following Steelers’ Trade for DK Metcalf

The Pittsburgh Steelers finally landed a big-time receiver this offseason after their blockbuster trade of DK Metcalf.
At the time of the trade, Pittsburgh had zero quarterbacks on the roster.
Following Metcalf’s acquisition, former Steelers great Ben Roethlisberger jokingly stated he would come out of retirement.
“Coach T [Mike Tomlin], are you kidding me? DK Metcalf on one side, GP [George Pickens] on the other? Muth [Pat Freiermuth] working the middle? I might need to throw my hat in the ring. If you’re looking for a guy, I might still have a couple of throws in me!” Roethlisberger said on his Instagram page while donning his old Steelers helmet.
