A small airplane crashed near the Boca Raton airport this Friday in yet another horrific aviation mishap.
The aircraft is said to have gone down on Military Trail around 10:30 AM, sending debris into nearby roads and train tracks.
Footage from the air, which can be seen here, shows first responders on the scene near the Glades Road intersection. Airport officials told WPTV’s Kayla McDermott that the plane in question was a twin-engine propeller aircraft, but it’s not clear whether it was taking off or landing when it crashed.

The publication noted that investigators hadn’t released any details on injuries, though Collin Rugg is reporting that three people died.
“A plane has crashed in Boca Raton, Florida resulting in three de*ths, according to local news reports,” he wrote in a tweet. “The plane was approaching Boca Raton Airport with “mechanical issues.”
Friday’s Boca Raton Plane Crash Occurs Less Than 24 Hours After Hudson River Helicopter Incident

As noted above, the incident has forced multiple road closures in the area, with N. Military Trail now closed, as well as the eastbound and westbound Interstate 95 overpass at Glades Road.
The airport is also closed, while the Tri-Rail service has been affected due to the debris on the tracks.
Nearby schools remain open and were not impacted. Parents were urged to refrain from coming to pick their children up because traffic was very congested.
Today’s crash follows another fatal aviation incident from Thursday, when a sightseeing helicopter trip ended in tragedy after a chopper split in two above the Hudson River in New York, killing a family of five and their pilot.
Our hearts go out to all the families affected in both incidents.
