Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin took Katy Perry, including an all-female crew, for a space trip, and an NFL reporter is not loving it.

Recently, NFL Network reporter Jane Slater did not hold back in her criticism of Katy Perry’s recent journey to space, calling the entire expedition “embarrassing.”

Perry was part of an all-female crew that flew aboard Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket alongside journalist Gayle King and rocket scientist Aisha Bowe.

Their brief mission lasted just over ten minutes, during which Perry brought a daisy in honor of her daughter and participated in a “Take up space” chant with her fellow crew members. While some celebrated the trip as a symbolic achievement for women in space exploration, Slater openly trashed Perry.

“The whole thing was embarrassing. So many smart women who worked their whole life to go to space and did the work,” Slater tweeted.

The backlash against Perry’s flight was not isolated to Slater. Critics like Olivia Munn characterized the trip as “a bit gluttonous,” questioning the mission’s relevance to expanding human knowledge and benefiting life on Earth.

Fast-food chain Wendy’s even chimed in with a sarcastic comment about sending Perry back to space.

Katy Perry and five other women made it to the news after completing an 11-minute journey into space aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket.

Following their return, Perry enthusiastically reviewed the experience as “a 10 out of 10” and encouraged others to consider space travel.

“It’s a 10 out of 10. That’s my review. Definitely go for it,” the pop star said.

The flight took the group over 100 kilometers above Earth, crossing the Karman line, the recognized boundary of space, where they experienced moments of weightlessness. After landing, Gayle King expressed her awe at the views of Earth.

She reflected on the peacefulness of space and the importance of caring for our planet.
