The item thought to have been more instrumental to Rory McIlroy’s Masters triumph on Sunday than anything else has been found on Amazon, and it’s not that expensive (well, if you only buy one).

McIlroy claimed his first Green Jacket to complete a career grand slam at the end of an eventful weekend, having gotten off to a poor start in the tournament. It was quite an emotional evening for the 35-year-old, whose relief could be felt around Augusta National as he watched that ball drop and fell to his knees.

The Daily Mail is suggesting that a curious change is responsible for the change in the Irishman’s fortunes.

According to the PGA Tour, McIlroy, who is not the greatest putter of the ball, had been experimenting with his short game at Michael Jordan’s exclusive South Florida golf club. It’s understood that he began training with a different golf ball there and liked what he saw.

So What’s This New Golf Ball That Brought Rory McIlroy So Much Luck?

The ball is none other than the TaylorMade TP5, which is available for 54.99 on Amazon.

“I loved how it was reacting around the greens. And then I started hitting some like 60-, 70-yard shots with it and it was coming off much lower launch, but spinnier,” McIlroy said of the ball before the tournament.

His recent success is now being attributed to the TP5, especially given that, on two occasions, he managed to get himself out of difficult spots with remarkable approach shots from tough angles behind the trees on the seventh hole and around them on the 14th hole.

The Mail notes that McIlroy had been playing with a 2019 version of the TP5x ball before the switch and has since gone on to win a trio of PGA Tour events this season.

So, perhaps it’s time to consider trying the TP5. “Spinnier” might be the way to go.

But it’s not like we’re getting paid to promote this, so who cares?
