Stephen A. Smith has compared the situation involving Shedeur Sanders to the Colin Kaepernick controversy following the quarterback’s puzzling slide in the NFL draft.
Shedeur was widely expected to be a first-round pick and possibly go as high as top five on Thursday night. However, he didn’t hear his name called during Day 1, and things got much worse on Friday, with rounds two and three closing without that coveted selection.
It became clear that the Colorado star was being sent a message after the New Orleans Saints selected Tyler Shough with their No. 40 pick. This drew some criticism from Stephen A., who claimed it was Kap all over again in a fiery tweet.
“This is a damn disgrace. How in the hell is @Shedeur not off the board, not drafted yet. Y’all still think this doesn’t have anything to do with teams hatin on @DeionSanders,” he wrote. “This kid is a first rounder. In a different way, this is Kaepernick all over again…..being kept out. A damn disgrace. I don’t care what anyone says!”
The Shedeur Sanders And Colin Kaepernick Situations Aren’t Quite The Same

Kaepernick was blackballed from the NFL following protest in the form of taking a knee during the national anthem right before games.
Of course, the circumstances are entirely different, and the situations cannot be compared. But Smith is making the point that this seems like a collaborative effort on the part of NFL front offices to teach Shedeur Sanders a lesson.
