SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — South Jordan Police have identified a third man who had been chatting with 15-year-old Alisa Petrov before her disappearance on April 21, 2025.
“The last message sent from the juvenile (Petrov) to (Samuel) Mitchell was on 04/19/2024 at 0034 hours,” detailed a South Jordan Police Detective.
“IM RUNNING AWAY, please don’t contact me,” wrote Petrov.
2News obtained a search warrant earlier this week which details 41-year-old Samuel Mitchell of Herriman, Utah chatting with Petrov via Discord. The warrant was written for Mitchell’s phone. Investigators uncovered the conversations when they located a hidden iPad in a dresser in her room following her disappearance.

“Your affiant discovered that the juvenile requested multiple times for ‘samitch’ to kidnap her, and provided him locations she was going to be as such as Alta Ski Resort,” wrote a detective.
Petrov was at Alta Ski Area just hours before she ran away from her school in American Fork. “Samitch” is the account name Mitchell used on Discord, according to police.
“The messages were exchanged about eight days before Petrov ran away,” wrote a South Jordan detective.
The conversations between Mitchell and the 15-year-old were sexual in nature at one point discussing “couples twister” and “sex monopoly” games. The conversations gave officers the idea that imagery was shared between the two, however, no child sex abuse material (CSAM) was located on the juvenile’s or Mitchell’s Discord accounts. However, it’s believed they were also using Snapchat to communicate.
The conversations also eluded to Mitchell and the 15-year-old meeting up. However, when asked by Petrov if they were going to meet up, Mitchell claimed he “got really sick.”
Petrov, who was last seen in Provo, is listed as missing and endangered by South Jordan Police.
Mitchell is not in custody and no formal charges have been filed, however, detectives noted there was “evidence of Enticement of a Minor and Exploitation of a Minor” on Mitchell’s phone.
