In most cases, when you ask a parent they’ll tell you that their love for their child is so strong that they would do anything for them.

When we have children, our lives are changed in ways we can hardly describe. We are aware that, for as long as we live, we will be devoted, concerned and loving caretakers of our new little ones.
Even so, there are experiences that no parent can stop. Just like joy, happiness and celebrations,
accidents and illness often affect human life and each year there are many children who get caught up in situations they cannot avoid.

Alina and Aaron Edwards’ lives were altered when they found out their daughter Emma was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia which is a type of cancer.
Despite Emma’s going through intense treatment, her parents hoped that all would go well. But doctors told them after some months that there was nothing more they could do for Emma.

Deciding Emma did not have much time left, her parents decided to fulfill her desires.
You can imagine that, for most kids, being given such a chance, like meeting a famous person, going to Disneyland or walking out with their favorite sports star, would be very special.
But the dream Emma held was very unique. DJ’s girlfriend asked her parents if she could marry DJ.
After all I said and experienced on Sunday, I could go on and thank many people, but right now my brain is being lazy and I…
The report has been posted by Emma’s Army on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
Emma’s actions caught the eyes of many people in her community not long after beginning. The people who came forward to help adopted the title “Emma’s Army”, sharing the hope to realize Emma’s dreams before she passed away.

In time, the Make-A-Wish Foundation joined in to help collect money for Emma and her family. Alina said: “Heath and Rachel are happy because they had a wish to go to Disneyland, but Emma wanted to get married, have three children and be a wife.”
According to details, they had tried to get married before as well. They attempted to get married in school when they were eight and they each picked their friends to be their attendants. But Emma and DJ were unsuccessful, since their teacher used authority to nix the wedding idea, despite it being so unofficial.
The couple held a second ceremony and this time, both parents as well as a lot of caring people helped make it happen for Emma.

It only took us less than two days to make it and all the pieces were given as donations. The event was so special and it all came out perfectly, according to Alina.
On the day of the event, video was recorded and interviews with some guests such as the groom, DJ were included.
I always believe she is the most beautiful person I ever met. As soon as I fell in love with her,” DJ commented.
Alina went on and on about what a fine boy her daughter’s boyfriend is. She expressed her feelings in a post on Facebook that she wrote.

Since 3rd grade, DJ has been Emma’s “Boo bear” and they are just a duo that will melt your heart. DJ looks after her and helps and makes her feel so good inside. She is in love with him.
He also loves her a lot. He has been with her during her challenges and happy times and she never stopped smiling. DJ is and always will be family.”
On June 29, Emma’s wedding day came to pass as Emma and her parents arrived at the spot in a wheelchair. Her father helped her down the aisle in a beautiful purple dress and she smiled the whole way.
At the end of the ceremony, Emma and DJ exchanged rings and vows and DJ kissed his bride to officially finish the wedding.

Since the wedding was so special for her, Emma fell asleep in her bed, yet her joyful mood was plainly seen by everyone.
A few weeks afterwards, on July 11, 2023, little Emma lost her life following her hard fight.
According to her obituary, Emma Brooks Edwards left this life and was reunited with her Great-grandma Frannie Annie on July 11, 2023, with the people she cared about watching. When she was 10, Emma fought “The imposter”, Leukemia, for 16 months, until she lost her courageous battle.

She enjoyed arts and crafts, playing practical jokes, spending time with her loved ones, Jesus and now “technically” her husband DJ. All those who loved Emma were blessed with her light and all who met her were inspired by her.
She truly is the best daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, aunt and “wife,” and friend. Her life showed strength, humor and an unbounded love that embraced everyone.

Rest in peace dear Emma. Such a pretty young life cut violently short.
Join us in praying for every person in the world who has cancer.
