Former College Basketball Star Tragically Dies In Horrific ATV Accident

A former college basketball player is dead at the age of 26 following an ATV crash that took place over the weekend.

According to the WLBT, Cameron Woodall, a high school state champion who went on to play in college, passed away as the result of a collision involving two ATVs on Saturday.

Hinds County Sheriff Tyree D. Jones revealed officers responded to calls regarding an accident in Raymond, Mississippi, at 11:30 p.m. on June 7. Woodall was dead on arrival, while the other driver was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

Jones said that the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office was investigating the crash following the tragic circumstances that have left a family in mourning.

Woodall was a star forward at Raymond High School, helping fire the team to the MHSAA championship in 2017 and 2018. He would also play for Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Grambling, and Tougaloo, where he spent the 2022/23 season.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the untimely passing of Cameron D. ‘Big Cam’ Woodall, a beloved former Tougaloo College men’s basketball standout,” Tougaloo athletics wrote in an Instagram post. “Known for his larger-than-life presence, fierce competitiveness on the court, and kind-hearted spirit off it, Cam left an indelible mark on the Tougaloo family.

Cameron Woodall, who stood at 6ft 6in, was a Second Team All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference call-up.

“His impact extended far beyond basketball; he was a friend, a brother, and a true Bulldog through and through,” Tougaloo added in their statement. “We send our deepest condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
