President Donald Trump Issues Statement After Gunman Killed Minnesota Lawmaker Rep. Melissa Hortman & Wounded Sen. John Hoffman

President Donald Trump issued a statement after an unknown gunman killed Minnesota lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark and wounded Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette.

According to CNN, police officers arrived at John and Yvette Hoffman’s home at around 2:00 a.m. local time after reports of a shooting. Both were rushed into surgery and are recovering in the hospital.

Approximately 90 minutes later, police responded to a call about a shooting at the Hortmans’ home. The gunman, reportedly posing as a cop, killed Melissa and Mark Hortman at their home and shot at the officers responding to the call, per CNN. The suspect escaped and is still being sought.

President Donald Trump released a statement on the horrific tragedy through his Truth Social account. Trump vowed that Attorney General Pam Bondi and the FBI will prosecute yone involved to the fullest extent of the law.”

“I have been briefed on the terrible shooting that took place in Minnesota, which appears to be a targeted attack against State Lawmakers. Our Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and the FBI, are investigating the situation, and they will be prosecuting anyone involved to the fullest extent of the law. Such horrific violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America. God Bless the great people of Minnesota, a truly great place!”


According to authorities, the suspect was dressed like a police officer with a vest and black body armor. He was described as a white male with brown hair.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the Hortmans and Hoffmans during this difficult time. We hope Sen. Hoffman and Yvette have safe and speedy recoveries.
