A small passenger jet crashed at a London Airport this Sunday, becoming yet another aviation catastrophe following a series of concerning incidents involving planes and other aircraft over the last few months.

According to reports, the Beechcraft B200 was heading to Lelystad, Netherlands, and had taken off from the London Southend Airport before going down just seconds later.

The crash resulted in a massive fireball followed by a cloud of thick, black smoke.

Emergency services were quickly deployed, with Essex Police and the East of England Ambulance Service responding promptly.

Details regarding casualties remain unconfirmed at the time of writing.

The plane reportedly went down around 4:00 p.m. local time. Authorities have warned members of the public to stay away from the site to allow emergency crews to work, while local MP David Burton-Sampson has addressed the incident and offered support to those impacted.

Southend Airport, located about 36 miles east of Central London, serves many commercial and private flights, though it is not one of the city’s major international points.
