Longtime Dallas wide receiver Michael Gallup has had enough of the National Football League and is officially hanging up his cleats.
The Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver, who just signed with the team months ago, is calling it a career.
The Las Vegas Raiders announced a series of roster moves as training camp gets underway, including placing veteran WR Michael Gallup on the reserve/retired list.
He is only 28.

In March, the Cowboys released linebacker Leighton Vander Esch and receiver Michael Gallup, who have both retired this offseason.
They were part of the team’s top three picks from the 2018 draft. Leighton Vander Esch was moved on from due to his neck injuries, while Gallup was a cost-cutting roster move, which came two years into the five-year contract he signed not long after tearing an ACL late in the 2021 season.
The following month, in April, the Las Vegas Raiders signed Michael Gallup to a one-year contract worth up to $3 million.
Gallup was unlikely to get much playing time on a team that already has three-time first-team All-Pro Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, and Tre Tucker. Not to mention, the team also drafted tight end Brock Bowers.
Michael Gallup Ends NFL Career With Unfulfilled Potential
Michael Gallup has retired from the NFL before the age of 30.
Gallup’s second season in the league showed incredible promise. He caught 66 passes for 1,107 yards and six touchdowns, but he wouldn’t have another 1,000-yard season in the years following.
He registered just 34 catches for 418 yards and two touchdowns in 2023.
He will now end his career with 3,744 career receiving yards and 21 touchdowns in six seasons, per ESPN.com.
