Former ‘Cosby’ Star Malcolm-Jamal Warner Has Reportedly Died In Tragic Accident

Actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner has tragically passed away, according to reports.

Warner, best known for his role as Theodore “Theo” Huxtable in ‘The Cosby Show,’ died in a drowning incident off the coast of Costa Rica over the weekend.

ABC News cites the Costa Rican National Police, who said Warner was the victim of high current near Cocles, a beach in Limon, and died of asphyxia. He was 54 years old.

Authorities said he was caught by the rough tides, with his body later discovered on Sunday afternoon.

Warner was formally identified by Costa Rican police.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner was a main character in ‘The Cosby Show,’ starring in all eight seasons and receiving an Emmy nomination for his role as Theo. The sitcom ran from 1985 to 1992.

He was later a titular star in ‘Malcolm & Eddie,’ alongside comedian Eddie Griffin, and also starred in ‘Between the Lines’ with Tracee Ellis Ross.

The actor appeared in dozens of other television roles over the years and was most recently a character in five of the six seasons of FOX medical drama ‘The Resident.’

Warner was also a spoken word artist and bass player who released multiple albums.

He is survived by a wife and daughter, whose identities he kept private.
