Heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne passed away this Tuesday, according to a statement from his family.
Osbourne, who had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019, has passed at the age of 76.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” his family’s statement reads.
“He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
Osbourne, one of the most recognizable heavy metal artists over the span of his career, was a frontman for the band Black Sabbath, with which he picked up the moniker, “The Prince of Darkness.”
His performances made him quite a controversial figure in the music realm, having once left a crowd stunned after biting off the head of a bat.

Born John Michael Osbourne in Aston, Birmingham in 1948, Ozzy quit school at 15 and did odd jobs before partnering with a school friend, Geezer Butler, in various bands, including Black Sabbath.
While no cause of death was given, he struggled throughout the last few years of his life and was forced to put off a farewell tour due to a battle with pneumonia and then suffered a fall that caused him to undergo multiple surgeries.
Despite his failing health, Osbourne performed in one final concert with Black Sabbath on July 5 in his hometown of Birmingham, a fitting swansong to end a legendary career, and now a life.
We at TPS extend condolences to Ozzy Osbourne’s family, friends, and loved ones.
May he R.I.P.
