Rifle-Touting Man Dies After Shooting Multiple People Near The NFL League Office In New York

One of the worst things to hear in the United States is reports of an active shooter.

Another week brought yet another situation.

An active shooter was reported at 345 Park Ave. in Manhattan, the tower housing Blackstone Inc.’s global headquarters and the National Football League.

A police officer and one other person were shot at an office skyscraper in midtown Manhattan Monday evening.

The gunman, armed with an assault rifle, shot a police officer, while the gunfire also struck a bystander. He could be seen walking into the building at one point.

The suspect had not yet been identified. A motive for the shooting was also not clear.

The one civilian shot is in critical condition, according to a law enforcement official. Another civilian and the NYPD officer, who was shot in the back, are both expected to survive, the official told CNN.

A shooting was reported Monday evening at a high-rise midtown Manhattan building.

At least one police officer and one civilian were shot inside 345 Park Ave. in New York City.

345 Park Avenue is the building that contains offices for Blackstone and the NFL headquarters. The building is under lockdown.

Police sources told ABC that the active shooter entered the building and fired at a police officer, who was working private security at the time he was shot, and a civilian.

Police sources later added that the shooting suspect killed himself on the 33rd floor of the building.

“At this time, the scene has been contained and the lone shooter has been neutralized,” NYPD Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch posted on X.
