Donald Trump has demanded that Beyoncé and Oprah should be prosecuted for an alleged ‘illegal’ act.
Trump has revived his previous claims that Kamala Harris used celebrity endorsements like Beyoncé and Oprah Winfrey during the 2024 election – even claiming they were illegally paid millions of dollars each.
Taking to his own platform Truth Social over the weekend, Trump wrote that he was “looking at the large amount of money owed by the Democrats, after the Presidential Election, and the fact that they admit to paying, probably illegally, Eleven Million Dollars to singer Beyoncé for an ENDORSEMENT (she never sang, not one note, and left the stage to a booing and angry audience!), Three Million Dollars for ‘expenses,’ to Oprah, Six Hundred Thousand Dollars to very low rated TV ‘anchor,’ Al Sharpton (a total lightweight!), and others to be named for doing, absolutely NOTHING!”
Along the same lines, in May, Trump asked for a “major investigation” after claiming Harris violated the campaign finance law by paying Beyoncé, Oprah, Bruce Springsteen, Bono and others for their endorsement “under the guise of paying for entertainment”.
He added online on Saturday that the “ridiculous fees” given to the celebs were “incorrectly state in the books and records”. He went on; “Can you imagine what would happen if politicians started paying for people to endorse them. All hell would break out! Kamala, and all of those that received Endorsement money, BROKE THE LAW. They should all be prosecuted!”
No evidence has been shared to prove what he has claimed is fact. There is also no law against paying celebs for political endorsements although payments must be disclosed.
Campaigns involving celebs must cover the fair-market value price of production – for example, Beyoncé was paid $165,000 for “campaign event production” – not the multi-million number Trump has suggested.
