Of all the things that went viral on the internet this weekend, Donald Trump’s hand somehow stole the attention among them. The 79-year-old showed up with heavy makeup done across the back of it, and people immediately started guessing why. Was he hiding bruises? A cut? Something worse? The photos spread fast, and so did the rumors.
The White House tried to calm things down, saying the marks came from “minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking.” But as usual with Trump, that didn’t end the chatter. Golf fans especially weren’t ready to accept it.
The theory that his endless rounds on the course caused the issue became a hot topic, but the people who actually play the game were quick to call it nonsense. As Trump’s golf habits drew warnings before, this latest excuse didn’t exactly land.
Golf fans Push Back On Donald Trump’s Theory
On social media, golfers made one point clear: the injury doesn’t line up with how golf affects the body. The marks sat on the top of Trump’s right hand, not on the palm or fingers where friction usually appears. If hours of play had caused it, people said, the signs would be on the inside of his hand.
“Have you ever played golf? You don’t grip a club for 4-5 hours. You grip it when taking a shot, which is a fraction of the total time. Trump is right-handed, so his grip is right over left. Calluses come from friction. Nothing touches the top of his right hand during golf,” one fan explained.
“With the back of his hand? He’s gripping the club with the back of his hand?” one said.
One fan even pointed out the obvious comparison: “Trump’s health – he hasn’t played golf in 2 weekends and had very low energy on Friday. The makeup on his hand is probably from IVs.”
The back of Trump’s hand clearly rules out golf, but that doesn’t mean people will stop speculating either. He’s already turning his attention to college football season, and knowing Trump, this won’t be the last time a small detail grabs headlines.
