Simone Biles is back on top.
Biles claimed gold in the women’s all-around gymnastics competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics after pulling out of the event at the games in Tokyo three years ago.
It is the 27-year-old’s sixth gold medal and ninth overall medal.
Biles jumped to an early lead with a 15.766 on the vault after sticking the difficult Yurchenko double pike.
However, a mistake on the uneven bars in the second rotation turned anticipated gold into a much tighter competition as she fell behind Brazilian rival Rebeca Andrade.
Biles re-took the lead with an impressive balance beam rotation before sealing the victory on the floor routine. Andrade took home the silver for the second straight Olympics.
Fellow American Suni Lee won bronze after finishing with a clutch floor routine.
Lee took gold at the delayed Tokyo Games three years ago after Biles withdrew because of the “twisties.”
