NFL fans are already frustrated with everything going on in the league now. And to make it worse, politics also crashed their Sunday escape. So, here we are. The biggest talking point this week is the commercials. Yes, you heard right, commercials.

NFL RedZone, the beloved “seven hours of uninterrupted football” show, will no longer be commercial-free. Host Scott Hanson confirmed it on The Pat McAfee Show on September 3. His words really shocked fans. The show, known for nonstop action, will now include ads during the coverage.

Fans have flooded social media with anger. Some shouted at ESPN, others pointed fingers at Roger Goodell, and one person threw a different name into the controversy.

Kathy Hochul Calls Out Donald Trump

New York Governor Kathy Hochul blamed President Donald Trump for the RedZone shake-up. She clearly stated her views on X. “More commercials, less football. Trump’s America. @NFL and @espn : You have time to fix this!” she told her followers on Wednesday night.

Of course, Trump didn’t make this call. Neither did ESPN. Sports media reporter Richard Deitsch of The Athletic made it clear. He wrote, “The plan is to space a limited number of ads throughout the 7+ hours of the show. Viewers will hear the audio of the ads, but the other box will show NFL RedZone.”

The league wants to space out commercials without breaking the flow of live look-ins. Viewers will still see the action, just with audio from ads playing in one of the split screens.

So, why the sudden rollout? Insiders say the NFL had been planning this for some time. It has nothing to do with the league’s recent deals involving ESPN. Hanson even tried to cushion the blow during his McAfee appearance. He promised the same madness, the same wild swings from city to city, and the same energy fans expect every Sunday. Only now, everything will take 15 seconds in between.

The season is already going on. The Eagles opened with a win over the Cowboys. The Chiefs face the Chargers today. RedZone will be there too. Only this time, fans had better be prepare for ads.
