The NFL season just started, but Cris Collinsworth is already taking heat for having an obsession with Josh Allen.
Collinsworth and NBC Sports colleague Mike Tirico were on the call for the Baltimore Ravens—Buffalo Bills ‘Sunday Night Football fixture, which pitted Allen against the man he dethroned as MVP, Lamar Jackson.
Jackson had the better night of the two men, with the Ravens offense looking near unstoppable. But Allen made some impressive plays himself, including a flip pass to Khalil Shakir that got the Bills out of a tough spot and earned them a first down in the third quarter. Social media also thought he was caught tipping plays during the game.
“This Josh Allen play brought out the Cris Collinsworth noises. 🏈🎙️ #NFL #SNF,” Awful Announcing shared in a tweet.
“Cris Collinsworth’s obsession with calling Josh Allen by his first name is relentless. Every play, he’s gushing like a fanboy during #RavensvsBills. Dial it back, Cris,” a fan wrote.
“Cris Collinsworth when Josh Allen made that throw,” another user posted, adding a still from ‘South Park’.
“Cris Collinsworth moaned and bit his lip with that Josh Allen pass,” someone else joked.
“I ain’t seen no eater like Collinsworth before. Stop giving this man Josh Allen games,” one fan urged.
It’s no secret that Collinsworth is fond of Allen, but fans clearly think he takes it too far.
