Football fans had the same complaint about Pro Football Hall of Famer Troy Aikman during the Chicago Bears-Minnesota Vikings “Monday Night Football” game.
The three-time Super Bowl champion began his fourth season on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” program with longtime broadcast partner Joe Buck on Monday evening. Aikman and Buck signed lucrative multi-year deals with the Worldwide Leader in Sports when the “MNF” positions became available.
As a polarizing commentator, Troy Aikman has never been shy about speaking his mind and delivering hot takes. But his analysis of Caleb Williams throughout the contest led to plenty of complaints from football fans, who accused Aikman of hating on the Bears quarterback.
“All Troy Aikman does is rip on Caleb,” a fan said.
“Troy Aikman really hates Caleb Williams. 😂,” wrote a user.
“Can I get a backstory on why Troy Aikman hates Caleb Williams because it’s actually starting to get concerning,” a fan commented.
“Boy, Troy Aikman does not like Caleb Williams. Kid is 10/11 first week new system… all he can talk about is negative. Wild #MNF #BearDown,” said a user.
“Troy Aikman does not like Caleb Williams 😂,” said another.
“Caleb was throwing to a guy 18 yards down field on a long come backer, pass deflected by a D linemen, and Troy Aikman blamed Caleb for trying to drive the ball to the receiver instead of “floating” it. The negativity towards Caleb is wild. Have to drive that throw. It’s bad luck,” said a fan.
Sorry, Aikman haters. Since ESPN has rights to one wild card and one divisional round game, you got 19 more weeks of him.
Troy Aikman Doesn’t Hate Caleb Williams
The reality of being a sports commentator is that you’ll alays be accused of liking or hating certain players and teams. A simple search on X/Twitter last night, and you’ll have seen countless fans accusing Cris Collinsworth of having favoritism for Josh Allen.
Aikman has no reason to hate a second-year quarterback who has done nothing off the field to justify such criticism. If Aikman was praising Williams all game long, you’d have plenty of fans accusing him of showing bias toward the Bears’ quarterback.
