The Cincinnati Bengals got, practically, the worst-case injury update on superstar quarterback Joe Burrow after Sunday’s Week 2 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Joe Burrow was injured on a sack during the second quarter of the Bengals’ season opener and did not return. Backup Jake Browning relieved Burrow and finished with three total touchdowns, including the game-winning QB sneak TD in the waning seconds, to help Cincy escape with a 31-27 win.
It was initially reported that Burrow would miss multiple weeks with turf toe and torn ligaments. Unfortunately, the injury is even worse than feared.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Bengals fear that Joe Burrow has a Grade 3 turf toe injury. If that’s the case, he would need surgery and miss at least three months, Rapoport added.
#Bengals star QB Joe Burrow is feared to have suffered a Grade 3 turf toe injury, one that would require surgery and put him out at least 3 months, per me and @TomPelissero.

Burrow suffered season-ending injuries in his 2020 rookie year (ACL, MCL and PCL tears) and 2023 (a wrist injury). The Bengals have faced immense criticism for failing to supply Burrow with a capable offensive line, and that problem has once again reared its ugly head.
