‘Same XY Chromosomes’- Imane Khelif Guaranteed A Medal At Paris Olympics 2024, Boxing Fans React

Winning at the Olympics is special and emotional. That’s what happened when Imane Khelif recorded a victory to earn a guaranteed medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. After triumphing over Hungary’s Anna Luca Hamori, the Algerian boxer burst into tears of joy. However, that did not melt fans’ hearts even a little bit.

Boxing journalist Michael Benson shared a screenshot of Khelif crying after her 5-0 victory. This led to fans rallying into comments with extreme disappointment.

Fans React To Imane Khelif’s Emotional Moment At Paris Olympics 2024

Ever since the Algerian boxer defeated Angela Carini, the entire sporting fraternity has been left in splits. While some recalled Khelif’s failed gender eligibility tests, others accused her of doing wrong with female competitors. One of the fans trolled the Algerian and wrote,

“She’s got the same XY chromosomes as a biological male”

There was a fan who lamented on Khelif’s tears. She accused the Alegerian for doing wrong against the female competitors and wrote,

“These are not tears of joy. Anyone who has been deeply wronged, unfairly hurt, and massively attacked for something they did not do can recognize these tears. They are the tears shed when you endure tremendous injustice and still survive it.”

Despite the maximum number of fans trolling her, Imane Khelif did find some support. One of the fans wrote, “The hate and vitriol she’s faced over the last few days has been a disgrace. I hope she wins gold.”

A fan claimed that even if Khelif won gold, it would be a false victory. Moreover, he added that the Algerian would have to “give an account” to God.

Fans are certainly not willing to accept the fact that Imane Khelif has been allowed to compete despite all the controversies. And IOC’s recent statement works as a gaslight. It will be interesting to see if the Algerian boxer defies her odds and clinches a gold or a silver medal at the Paris Olympics 2024.
