The PGA had to bring in extra state troopers to manage the obnoxious and unruly fans who continuously heckled Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry at the second round of the Ryder Cup on Saturday.
McIlroy and Team Europe successfully navigated a boisterous pro-American crowd at the 2025 Ryder Cup in Farmingdale, New York. But some of the heckling went too far, and this year’s Masters winner finally responded.
Before a shot on the 16th hole, Rory McIlroy told disruptive fans “shut the f**k up” before sticking his shot to within a few feet of the hole.

Rory McIlroy & Team Europe Are In Full Control At 2025 Ryder Cup
It’s pathetic, embarrassing and cruel enough to act like this toward golfers during a marquee tournament. But in case the fans at Farmingdale haven’t noticed, their jeers and taunts aren’t disrupting the play of Team Europe one bit.
Barring a significant collapse, Team Europe will win its second straight Ryder Cup championship decisively. They took a 5.5-2.5 lead into Saturday’s rounds, and it’s going to take an all-time miracle for USA to emerge victorious tomorrow.
McIlroy won his first Masters tournament in April to join the career Grand Slam club after years of heartbreak. Now for good measure, it looks like he’s about to win a sixth Ryder Cup with Team Europe.
