Dutch sprinter Lieke Klaver has been turning heads on social media for a while now. But she’s been getting extra attention since the start of the Olympic Games in Paris, France.
Klaver has 796 K Instagram followers and is quickly nearing 1 million. Given that she’s set to run during Friday’s Heat, her following is likely to increase significantly.
While she should enjoy her popularity, Lieke has admitted that dealing with all of the extras from social media has been her biggest struggle, although users could be forgiven for flooding her pages when she posts stuff like what’s seen below:

The 25-year-old is quite used to being under the spotlight, but social media could be a significant distraction at times, though not enough to completely alter her focus.
For all her looks, Lieke Klaver is an accomplished sprinter. She has won seven major medals with Dutch 4×400 squads and helped the Netherlands finish in fourth place at the Tokyo Olympics in mixed 4×400 competition.
2023 Was A Big Year For Lieke Klaver
The Dutch star had a big year in 2023, winning her first individual medal (silver) in the 400-meter at the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, and taking her personal best down to 49.81.
She also reduced her 400m personal best to 49.81.
She also enjoyed success this year, participating in the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, UK, where she won silver alongside compatriot Femke Bol in the 400-meter before winning gold in the 4×400.
It remains to be seen how she performs during these Olympic Games, but she will have plenty of eyes on her today.
