A detective attached to the New York Police Department snuck into the Ryder Cup on Friday under an interesting guise.

Detective Melvin Eng was caught entering the prestigious golf tournament at Bethpage Black, pretending to be a member of Donald Trump’s security detail.

The 46-year-old was on sick leave but showed up dressed in full tactical gear and even claimed to be with the feds. However, he made a foolish error that left him exposed.

According to a source cited by the New York Post, Eng fumbled the magazine for his weapon in front of actual security, which blew his cover.

He has since been suspended by the NYPD without pay and is facing administrative charges for theft of services.

His attempt to get into the tournament for free might impress Trump, who could be convinced to ask the department to go easy on him. However, this marked a serious security breach, especially given the heightened concerns around the country following the murder of Charlie Kirk last month.

Trump was himself the victim of a near-assassination while on the campaign trail last year.

Donald Trump Was Heavily Protected At The Ryder Cup

The President took in the action at the Ryder Cup on the day, attending with his 18-year-old granddaughter Kai, who is very fond of golf and has even landed endorsement deals, following his claims of saving the competition.

He greeted a line of dignitaries on the platform as Kai hyped up the crowd before they entered a glass box for the national anthem.

No stone was left unturned by the Secret Service as they sought to protect the POTUS, with snipers even seen among fans in the stands.

Plainclothed officers also mingled with spectators.

Team Europe ended up retaining the Ryder Cup, completing a rout on Sunday, despite a fightback from the Americans, and had a message for the President, who replied on social media.
