Dolly Parton’s manager has issued a statement after the singer’s sister asked fans to pray for her amid ongoing health concerns.
Fans are concerned for the 79-year-old country singer after her sister, Freida Parton, asked people to pray for the star.
The younger sibling sent fans into a spiralling frenzy after declaring that she was ‘up all night praying’ for Dolly, who has been forced to cancel recent gigs due to ongoing health concerns.
The icon has been battling with severe kidney stones, which can be life-threatening in circumstances where there are complications, like urinary tract obstruction, severe infection, and sepsis.
Freida, one of Dolly’s five sisters among her 11 siblings, posted: “Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly.
“Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately.
“I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”
Fans of the star were quick to send prayers.
One said: “Please dolly I’m praying so hard for you, the world can’t lose such a beautiful soul.
“Dear lord it may be very selfish of me to ask you to alter your plans but please don’t take her.”
Another added: “What a talented and gorgeous lady. I will always love you, Dolly!”
Following the concerning announcement, Dolly’s manager, Olly Rowland, was forced to issue a statement on behalf on the country singer.
It comes after Dolly said God was ‘telling her to slow down,’ after her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, died aged 82 in March earlier this year.
Speaking on Instagram, she recently opened up about the ‘health challenges’ she had been facing.
She noted: “I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see.
“You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.”
Following her sister’s plea, Rowland’s statement read: “It’s just the kidney stones, and the procedure she needs to resolve those.
“It looks like her sister posted, and it got quite a bit blown out of proportion, weirdly.”
Freida was then prompted to post another statement, apologizing to worried fans.
She added: “I didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious.
“She’s been a little under the weather and I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer.
“It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister.
“Thank you all for lifting her up. Your love truly makes a difference.”
