Kansas City Chiefs Star Player Out For Season After Suffering Devastating Injury

The Kansas City Chiefs’ journey to a fourth straight AFC Championship will have to continue without star rookie defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott.

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the 23-year-old Omarr Norman-Lott suffered a torn ACL in Sunday’s 31-0 shutout win over the Las Vegas Raiders at home and will miss the rest of the season.

Norman-Lott was used in a rotational role behind veterans and defensive tackles Chris Jones and Derrick Nnadi, who was re-acquired by Kansas City in an offseason trade with the New York Jets.

Kansas City selected Omarr Norman-Lott in the second round (63rd overall) in this year’s draft. He appeared in five games (one start) and recorded a sack, five combined tackles and three quarterback pressures, per Pro Football Reference.

The Chiefs have dealt with numerous injuries on defense. Notably, defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah was placed on the season-ending injured reserve in August with a hamstring injury, and veteran cornerback Kristian Fulton hasn’t played since suffering an ankle injury in Week 2.

Coming off their fourth win in five games, the Chiefs will aim to improve to 5-3 when they host the Washington Commanders on ‘Monday Night Fotball’ next week.

Chiefs Should Explore The Trade Market With Omarr Norman-Lott Out For 2025

With Norman-Lott out for the season, expect Chiefs general manager Brett Veach to scout the trade market as the Nov. 4 trade deadline approaches.

The Cincinnati Bengals can’t seem to make up their minds on superstar Trey Hendrickson, but it wouldn’t hurt the Chiefs to see if a deal can be had. The Arizona Cardinals might be willing to move the ageless Calais Campbell, and he should be open to accepting a move to a Super Bowl contender.

At 1-6, the Miami Dolphins figure to be a prime deadline seller and could shop star pass rushers Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips, who would be excellent fits in Steve Spagnuolo’s blitz-happy defense.
