Queen Elizabeth’s Cause Of Death Revealed

The late Queen Elizabeth’s cause of death was revealed, as royal fans grieve three years on from her passing.

Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8, 2022, at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, surrounded by members of her family that she held dear.

The enormity of her death sent shockwaves around the world, with famous leaders and royal fans paying tribute to The Queen who spent the entirety of her adult life on the throne.

Around midday on September 8, Buckingham Palace released a statement to say that The Queen’s doctors were ‘concerned’ about her health, and that family had traveled to be with her.

But soon after her death, a statement from the palace, which did not reveal the cause, read: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

“The King and the Queen consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

It’s believed Princess Anne and King Charles were by their mother’s side when she died.

It’s been noted that Charles and Camilla were able to spend a whole hour with The Queen before her passing at age 96.

But 18 months after her funeral, The Queen’s private secretary, Sir Edward Young, revealed in a memo the details of her final hours.

He also revealed that there was a locked red box of paperwork containing two sealed letters, found by her deathbed.

One letter was addressed to Sir Edward, and the other to her firstborn son, Charles.

It’s been reported that Charles did try to contact Prince Harry about the death of his beloved grandmother, but that he was on a flight at the time.

The Duke Of Sussex later revealed in his memoir that he learnt of her death through a BBC News alert, after turning his phone back on.

In a televised address after his mother’s passing, Charles said: “To my darling mama, as you begin your last great journey to join my dear late Papa, I will say this, thank you for your love and your devotion to our family and the family of nations you have served.

He added: “I pay tribute to my mother’s memory and I honour her life of service.

“I know that her death brings great sadness to so many of us, and I share that sense of loss beyond measure with you all.”

Her official cause of death was revealed some weeks after her passing, as detailed in her death certificate which was signed by Princess Anne.

But Sir Edward’s memo revealed that The Queen ‘slipped away’ peacefully.

Her official cause of death was noted as ‘old age,’ which her secretary confirmed in the note.

Sir Edward wrote: “Very peaceful. In her sleep. Slipped away.

“Old age. She wouldn’t have been aware of anything. No pain.”

The Queen’s state funeral took place on September 19 at Westminster Abbey.
