Cris Collinsworth raised a lot of eyebrows when he essentially threw a shot at Donald Trump’s White House during Sunday Night Football.
Collinsworth, a former Cincinnati Bengals star and NBC broadcaster, made a joke about the government shutdown during the Seattle Seahawks’ destruction of the Washington Commanders on Sunday night.
As the game got ready to change from the third to the fourth quarter, the NBC broadcast showed the U.S. Capitol.
“There’s a calm place,” Collinsworth said, clearly alluding to the ongoing government shutdown. Even Mike Tirico had to laugh.
In the midst of the shutdown, Donald Trump has been catching backlash for renovating the White House and playing a ton of golf.
On Halloween, he was even spotted hosting hundreds of young trick-or-treaters at the White House.
Donald Trump’s Government Shutdown Enters Day 34 With No Deal
The government shutdown is poised to become the longest ever as the issues between Democrats and Republicans have dragged into a new month.
On the table are millions of citizens who may lose food aid benefits as healthcare subsidies are set to expire.
Things are not looking good, especially after President Donald Trump said in an interview aired on Sunday that he “won’t be extorted” by Democrats. The Dems are reportedly demanding negotiations to extend the Affordable Care Act subsidies that expire at the end of the year for millions of Americans.
Trump said on CBS’ “60 Minutes” he’ll negotiate only when the government is reopened.
His recent comments signal the shutdown could drag on for some time as federal workers, including air traffic controllers, are set to miss even more paychecks.
The president said Democrats “have lost their way.”
While politicians play “Tag” with each other, it is the citizens of America who are looking to suffer the most.
