Luana Alonso made news earlier at the Olympics for retiring basically on the spot after failing to qualify for the finals of her race:
Now? Now she got sent home for creating an ‘inappropriate atmosphere’ which seems like bullshit. It’s the Olympics! The place where people test out the no-sex beds and get hundreds of thousands of condoms. How can one create an inappropriate atmosphere in Olympic Village? Apparently sneaking out to Disneyland is part of the reason:
[Source] – “Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay,” Larissa Schaerer, the head of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, said in a statement published by the outlet.
“We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the Athletes’ Village.”
Alonso had reportedly been staying in the Olympic Village despite announcing her retirement from the sport.
Paraguayan media outlets reported that Alonso had spent time in Disneyland instead of supporting her teammates, upsetting the country’s Olympic leadership.
I’m sorry, but going to Disneyland is now a crime? Okay, maybe it is, but she’s 20. It’s not a true weirdo Disney Adult who goes there all the time. She’s just sightseeing! Seems more than aggressive to say her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere unless there’s more to the story. I get you want her to support her teammates, but she’s retired. She’s doing what she wants while she enjoys her only Olympics for now.
She’s apparently already back in the States. She posted an Instagram story showing the American flag and seemingly getting back into the country. Good news for her is there’s two Disneys in America, so she can check them out too. All I know is these Olympics seem to have more people getting in trouble for leaving Olympic Village and the Village in general. Athletes seem to hate the place and we have this out there:
