Cameras caught Patrick Mahomes’ devastated reaction after leaving Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers with a gruesome-looking knee injury.
On the Kansas City Chiefs’ final drive of their must-win game, Patrick Mahomes suffered a knee injury after getting tackled by Da’Shawn Hand. Mahomes was down for several minutes and did not return.
To add salt to injury? Backup quarterback Gardner Minshew II threw a game-sealing interception with a chance to win. The Chiefs fell to 6-8 and have officially been eliminated from playoff contention.

Mahomes was having a sluggish outing before the injury. Per ESPN, the 30-year-old finished with just 189 passing yards on 16 completions for no touchdowns and one back-breaking interception.
The Chiefs had played in seven straight AFC Championship Games to begin Mahomes’ career. They won five of them and claimed three Super Bowl championships in that period.
But for the first time since 2014, the Chiefs will be watching the playoffs from home.
