Greg Biffle’s wife, Cristina Grossu, posted a heartbreaking message on her Instagram story hours before the couple and his two children died in a horrific plane crash on Thursday.
Just after 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, Greg Biffle’s Cessna C550 business jet crashed at the Statesville Regional Airport in Statesville, North Carolina. Tragically, officials confirmed the deaths of six people soon after.
Four of the confirmed fatalities are the former NASCAR driver, Grossu, their son Ryder and Biffle’s 14-year-old daughter, Emma, whom he had with ex-wife Nicole.
According to FlightAware, the plane was returning to the same airport soon after takeoff. The Cessna C550 was attempting a landing at the airport when the devastating accident occurred.

Greg Biffle and Cristine Grossu had their son, Ryder, in 2020. The two would have celebrated their third wedding anniversary in January. Emma turned 14 on July 6.

Biffle Claimed 19 NASCAR Cup Series Victories
The Vancouver, Washington, native joined NASCAR in 1995. He carved out one of the most remarkable careers ever in the auto racing company, claiming a whopping 19 NASCAR Cup victories.
Some of Biffle’s career highlights included victories at the 2000 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, 2002 NASCAR Busch Series and consecutive first-place finishes at the Southern 500 in 2005 and 2006. Biffle also claimed the 1998 Craftsman Truck Series Rookie of the Year and 2001 NASCAR Busch Series Rookie of the Year honors.
Biffle was a valuable member of Jack Roush’s racing team for 14 years (2003 to 2016). After leaving Roush in 2016, he participated in other events, including the Stadium Super Trucks and the Superstar Racing Experience.
