The NFL world received terrible news before Super Bowl 60.
As the rest of the NFL world prepared to watch the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots go at it to win Super Bowl 60, the league received terrible news. Two former players tragically died ahead of the big game on Sunday night.
The Patriots will serve as the host team against the Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium. Many celebrities will attend the game. Bad Bunny will perform at halftime.
The league celebrates and anticipates the championship game, but one of the players who once hoisted the Vince Lombardi Trophy sadly passed away.
Two Former NFL Players Found Dead Ahead of Super Bowl 60
Memphis authorities found Super Bowl champion Barry Wilburn dead in a house fire at around 2 am Friday. He won the title with the Washington Redskins.
“Family and friends are mourning the loss of former NFL player and Super Bowl champion Barry Wilburn. Family confirms he was the victim of a house fire in Orange Mound early Friday morning,” Action News 5 confirmed.
Kevin Johnson, who played five years of his seven-year career with the Cleveland Browns, was found dead in a homeless encampment. His death could have connections with four other killings in California.
“Johnson, 55, was found Jan. 21 at a homeless encampment along a flood control channel in the Willowbrook area of South Los Angeles, suffering from what the sheriff’s department described as ‘head trauma,’” NBC News reported.
Super Bowl week is always full of news. However, one never wants to learn about these horrific situations. Wilburn was 62 and Johnson 55.
