So this actually works?
One lucky fan got himself a date with Team USA Olympian Sophia Kirkby after sliding into her DMs, but he’s not home free just yet.
Kirkby just made history by competing in the first women’s doubles luge at the Winter Olympics. She has made it clear that she’s open to dating while in Milan.
The 24-year-old even dubbed herself “athlete’s village most eligible bachlorette (sic).”
She’s done competing after placing fifth. But she’s remaining in Olympic Village until the Games are over and will use her free time to date and mingle.
Sophia went out on a date – dressed in an interesting outfit at that – with said fan and gave an interview to the New York Post while out with him.
“He is a fan that jumped into my DMs two weeks ago,” she explained. “He said, ‘Hey, I just found out I have the 13th to 16th off. Would it be weird if I came and booked an Airbnb five minutes from you?’
“And I was like, ‘Go ahead’. He’s actually from the United States. He’s just currently living in the UK. And he flew here just to see me,” she continued.

The American competitor met up with her date on Friday and, at the time of the interview, had made plans to spend more time with him on Valentine’s Day.
She has since shared several photos of herself out on dates on a no-face-no-case basis.
“I’m fortunate that I’m one of the countries that gets to stay in the Olympic Village,” she shared.
She’d do well to note that the condoms have already run out at Olympic Village.
“The majority of my competitors I saw leave today, but fortunately for me, Team USA is one of the few countries that pays a premium for us to be here the entire time,” she added. “So I am just going to have fun. It’s my vacation time.”
She added that she had two dates lined up for Valentine’s Day alone. So bro’s clearly got competition.
