The Olympics are now closer to finishing than they are to the beginning, as they are set to wrap up on August 11th. However, events are still going strong, and the United States is currently leading the entire Olympics regarding medal count.
Unfortunately, one Olympian who won’t be seeing a medal is diver Alison Gibson, after a scary incident during the 3-meter springboard preliminaries on Wednesday where she collided with the diving board on a jump.

In a clip posted to X, Gibson can be seen preparing for her dive as she takes a deep breath and jumps. She flips in the air before ultimately hitting her feet on the diving board and crashing into the water, causing her to dive feet first.
Alison Gibson Is Okay After Unfortunate Diving Incident
Fans were worried about the Olympian after the incident, as the mistake looked painful on her. However, she emerged from the water relatively unharmed. She wasn’t happy with her performance as she covered her eyes, leaving poolside.
The dive was her first of five attempts, but it was essentially the deciding factor of her score as she would finish last out of the 28 participants. It was not a bright moment for an otherwise bright star who could have a successful diving future.
Fans praised the diver on social media after the post to the CBC X page went viral, with one fan calling the American a “tough cookie” after getting out of the pool and walking away with no limp, which is quite impressive.
