Super Bowl Contender Acquires Raiders Superstar WR Davante Adams In Blockbuster Trade Proposal That Would Make Their Offense Unstoppable

Few, if any, NFL position groups faced a greater turnover this offseason than the Buffalo Bills’ wide receiver room. Could that turnover lead to the team making a play for Las Vegas Raiders superstar wideout Davante Adams?

Gone are Stefon Diggs (traded to the Houston Texans) and Gabe Davis (signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars). In came Curtis Samuel, Keon Coleman, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Chase Claypool. Now just imagine if Buffalo GM Brandon Beane could somehow add Davante Adams to that mix.

The 31-year-old Davante Adams has been widely mentioned in trade rumors over the past year, with many linking him to a potential reunion with Aaron Rodgers’ New York Jets. But an ESPN analyst proposes the idea of the Jets’ division rivals swooping in to land Adams instead.

ESPN’s Seth Wilder proposed a blockbuster trade idea in which the Bills would acquire Adams in exchange for the 2025 second-round pick they obtained from the Texans in the Diggs trade:

“The rational move would have been to do this last year or earlier this offseason, but there’s still time for the Raiders to salvage value from Adams. They should move him now for draft capital that will help the team down the road, even though Adams’ trade value has already regressed a bit…

Without adding a topflight receiver, the Bills would likely allow another year of Josh Allen’s prime to slip away. The Bills are seventh in FPI’s chances to win the Super Bowl (5.7%), but a move for Adams — who had more than 100 catches for a fourth straight season in 2023 — would instantly make them a top contender again.

A second-round pick for what would likely — though not definitely — be a one-year rental is a hefty price. But the change in Super Bowl odds would be worth it. It would be close to even in terms of assets when factoring in the Stefon Diggs trade that Buffalo made this offseason — and I’d rather have Adams than Diggs.”

In trading Diggs, the Bills took on a massive dead money hit of $31 million. The four-time Pro Bowler subsequently agreed to a restructured contract with the Texans that expires after the 2024 season.

Last season, the 31-year-old Adams showed he’s still at the top of his game by hauling in 103 receptions for 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns.

Davante Adams Would Make Bills The Chiefs’ Biggest Threat

The Kansas City Chiefs have eliminated the Bills from the postseason in three of the last four years, with two of those games being decided by a single score. Now imagine if a top-five QB in Josh Allen had someone like Adams to throw the ball to.

Allen hasn’t necessarily enjoyed the same depth of playmakers that Patrick Mahomes has had. As good as Diggs was for Allen, Davante Adams would be an upgrade as Buffalo’s new WR1.

Buffalo has come close to defeating Mahomes in the postseason, but no cigar. That said, a player like Adams could help the Bills conquer their postseason Kryptonite once and for all.
