Gabby Thomas’ name is on everyone’s lips following her dominant 200m sprint in Tuesday’s final. As such, folks have done a bit of digging into her personal life.
Thomas became the first American woman to win the women’s 200m since 2012, preventing Julien Alfred from snagging another gold medal following the St. Lucian’s victory in last week’s 100m final. She ran a 21.83, beating all chasers by multiple strides, as no one else managed to finish under 22 seconds.
She will be trending for a while. And, given her presence at the games in France, it has come to light that she’s dating a former college quarterback.
The Daily Mail has pointed out that Thomas is in a relationship with former Yale signal-caller Spencer McManes. Of course, McManes didn’t go on to become an NFL player, but he was quite the stud in high school, registering close to 4,000 yards for 35 touchdowns.
He failed to replicate such form in college, however.

It’s believed that he and Gabby began dating between October 2022 and February 2023. Sporting News reports that he runs the Kaviva drink brand and was appointed a Senior Custom Success Manager at DataGrail in 2023.
Gabby Thomas Is Not All About The Track
Gabby Thomas has big dreams that have nothing to do with track and field. When she is not competing or training, she volunteers at a clinic in Austin, Texas, which runs a hypertension program and helps people who aren’t insured.
She wants to open her own hospital one day.
“I want to inspire the youth to continue to find their passions and be successful. I want young girls to look at us as strong female athletes and feel like they can do it too,” she told reporters after her gold-medal win on Tuesday.
“I want them to feel like they’re encouraged to go into professional sports. I want them to feel encouraged to pursue their dreams no matter how big or small. I hope when they look at me and they see what I do they’re inspired to work hard.
“They’re inspired to be kind to people and to give back to their communities when they can, and if I can leave that message with the world then I’ve done my job.”
